You Gotta Control the Weight
You gotta control the weight with precision and control.
I’m indeed talking about your weight and the weight. Haha.
But let’s focus on the weight you lift in the gym.
There’s this narrative floating around the internet that says you can do cheat reps.
Well, in all honesty, there are a lot of narratives floating around about fitness on the internet.
People nowadays are hoarding information without actually experiencing and experimenting with it.
But that’s a topic for another day.
So, can you do cheat reps?
Well, for 99% of people, I say absolutely not.
You gotta master the exercise first before you’re allowed to do that.
And I don’t think people understand how many reps you have to do to really master an exercise movement.
Why?
Because it will prevent you from developing an injury. Plus, the most gains are made by performing the correct movement for a long-ass period of time.
You have to understand that you need to know the movement so well that you could do it in your sleep.
And that could take years to truly master.
In my 15 years of lifting, I’ve only seen 2-3 people in the gym who, in my opinion, are "allowed" to perform cheat reps.
Those guys have also trained for nearly a decade by now.
So, my advice is to stick with controlled and slow reps for at least 1-2 years.
Really hone the art of lifting weights.
Really feel the muscle you want to train.
You want to get to the point where you can make a 4lb dumbbell feel heavy.
That’s the level of precision, accuracy, and awareness of your own body you need to aim for.
Before you slam dunk it with cheat reps.
That’s it for this email.
Stay safe and enjoy your weekend!
Kind Regards,
Coach Loc
P.S. Next week, I’ll be launching my Physique Analyzer! It’ll be on presale for a week! You can use the analyzing tool for free to assess your current situation (body-fat and improvement areas), but after that, you can opt in to get an in-depth, personalized workout and diet plan for a small fee.
I’ve spent a lot of time perfecting it, and it’s really awesome. Stay tuned!
