Just here to share how weird I think the internet space is.

The internet—what an invention it is.

The ability to share anything and everything.

Back in the day, you had to go to the library and know beforehand what you wanted to read. Or you just stumbled upon something that caught your interest.

But nowadays, you're served whatever the algorithm decides to show you.

I know this better than most because

I’m a content creator.

I’m also a programmer, so I understand how it works. And now, I’m a business owner (though I don’t really feel like one, to be honest), so I know a thing or two.

Enough bragging (sorry for that), let’s continue.

I truly think the internet is an evolutionary invention. The fact that you not only have all the knowledge at your fingertips but also get exposed to knowledge you didn’t even know existed is incredible.

Back in the day, people believed you were either introverted or extroverted, and there was no way to become more social. You were just born that way.

So, people weren’t even aware that something like “social skills” existed. I was one of those kids—beyond introverted.

Lucky for me, I was born at a time when the internet became mainstream. I got exposed to self-improvement, and it opened my world.

But what was once a place primarily made to share knowledge and accelerate personal growth is now a place dominated by time-sucking, mindless consumption.

And that’s just one cost. There’s another:

You lose your ability to make your own judgments.

What do I mean by that?

You become what you consume the most—whether it’s food or the media you take in.

Your worldview and definition of happiness get shaped by what you see online.

Let’s take fitness as an example since that’s a space I know well.

The most viral and popular content features world-class physiques—shredded, diced, peak condition.

Those images and videos get the most likes, engagement, and views.

When you see that over and over, it rewires your perception of happiness. You start to believe that having that kind of physique is normal and something you should aim for.

What you don’t see is that many of those people are on drugs or have elite genetics.

So, you work on your body, but because you compare yourself to those physiques, it robs you of your happiness.

This happens in other areas too, like money.

The most popular videos show wealth, luxury, and excessive spending on things that don’t really matter in life—Lambos, jewelry, expensive watches.

Now, you feel bad and lose your sense of joy because you don’t have those things.

But here’s the thing: that’s not what happiness is really about. As cliché as it sounds, it’s true.

So, what am I trying to say here?

I think the internet is a weird but awesome place. It just depends on how you use it.

Use it to learn something, then act on that knowledge.

Time spent on the internet should be for growth and knowledge. Sure, maybe sprinkle in some cat videos for balance. But don’t consume content that wastes your time or gives you a false worldview that distorts what happiness should look like.

That’s it for this rant! Not my usual fitness stuff, but I wanted to share something equally important—your mental health and happiness.

Hope you enjoyed your day or will have a great one!

Kind regards,
