So, stuffing your face with donuts is enjoyment...

Sometimes I wonder what enjoyment actually is.

Throughout my life, I have been super loose with my diet.

Eating hamburgers, donuts, lasagna, pizza—you name it.

But I have also been very strict with my diet: eating salad, air-fried chicken, tuna, and lots of vegetables.

So, I have ample experience on both sides of the equation.

When I’m being "strict" with my diet, I often get one common question:

Don’t you want to enjoy yourself sometimes?

My answer to that question is always:

Not really.

It’s not that I don’t eat junk food from time to time. I eat horrendous meals every week or so. I’m talking about hamburgers, fries, and stuff like that.

But the surprising part is that I don’t enjoy it as much nowadays.

Yeah, sure, it tastes good, but it doesn’t feel the same as it used to.

Some may think that this is a sad existence. I don’t think so, to be honest.

On the contrary, I feel like I have more control over my life and my actions.

Through this experience, I’ve also questioned why people correlate enjoyment with food so much.

They associate eating donuts and pizza with "enjoyment."

Why is that?

Well, I can tell you this:

The food nowadays is modified in such a way that it becomes addictive.

It’s not an opinion; it’s science.

The foods you’re consuming produce a crap ton of dopamine—just like cocaine releases loads of dopamine.

The word "enjoyment" is, in scientific terms, actually "releasing dopamine."

There’s nothing subjective about it; it’s pure science.

A lot of people are addicted to food, but they just mask it as enjoyment.

If you’re still in denial that you have a food addiction, try to quit all that sugary stuff for a few weeks. See if you experience withdrawal symptoms.

I can assure you that you will.

And it is super hard to kick that habit because you’ve been conditioned to eat those unhealthy foods for years.

It’s not impossible, but it’s super hard.
