Hey, Loc here, just here to...

Say hello and tell you a little bit about me

Some of you already know me, but I used to get bullied a lot when I was a child.

Why?

Because I didn’t speak a word of Dutch (I’m from the Netherlands, by the way).

So it’s easy to pick on someone who doesn’t even speak the native language.

There wasn’t any major reason for it—I was just an easy target.

But to say it had an impact on me is an understatement.

I was bullied throughout elementary school and even partially during my high school days.

I began my high school years...

  • Skinny

  • With massive social anxiety

  • And Asian

And yeah, I’m still Asian, unfortunately.

Lol, just kidding. I’m a proud Asian fella.

So what did I do?

I started my hero’s journey.

I picked apart all my insecurities and worked on them relentlessly.

I can still remember the awkward conversations I forced myself into purely to improve my social skills.

And boy, I can tell you that skill paid dividends in the future.

Then there was my fitness journey. I started it partially because I was skinny but also because I wanted to look like Goku.

I know, stupid reason, right? But it worked, and I stuck with it.

And this, too, paid major dividends for me in the future.

Although I decided to work on myself because of my insecurities from the bullying, there are many people who experience the same trauma but go in the total opposite direction.

They become more reclusive, unhealthy, and resentful.

Yes, bad times create good men, but, like everything in life, there’s nuance to it.

Bad times can also create terrible, awful men or women.

So what does this have to do with you?

Whether you’re insecure about your weight, your social skills, or anything else—it’s never too late to start changing it.

I’ve never understood the mindset of just giving up because it’s “too late.”

Who decided what “late” is?

It’s just something the world tries to convince you of.

Whether it’s late or not is not a fact.

But here’s a fact: you will die one day.

That is certain.

Nothing is certain in life except that.

So whatever you decide to work on, start now. Don’t beat yourself up if you began later in life.

That’s just a waste of mental energy.

But here’s the thing—nobody will tell you to begin working on whatever it is you’re insecure about.

Why?

  1. Just like most people, you’re probably hiding those insecurities, so nobody knows about them except you.

  2. Most people are too worried about their own insecurities to bother helping you out.

Take it from me: people will even hate on you for working on yourself and ironing out your insecurities.

Why? Because they’re projecting their insecurities onto you. That’s why they’ll hate.

Harsh truths about life.

But I don’t want to end this email on a pessimistic note, so here’s some motivation:

The fact is, you can work on whatever you want to work on. It’s not too late, and the only one who can do something about it is you.

And that should be liberating because you have full control over your own actions.

So get after it!

That’s it for this email.

Hope you enjoyed it, and enjoy your weekend!

Kind Regards,
Coach Loc
