Go on a Fast

Go on a mental, spiritual, and food fast.

Sometimes we do things for so long that they begin to feel normal, even if most people would consider them stupid.

I used to smoke weed.
I used to smoke cigarettes.
I used to drink twice a week.
I used to party every weekend and do drugs.

Yep, I was a real bonehead.
Yes, I am still a bonehead.

But the thing is, during those times when I did those bonehead activities, I thought they were completely normal. I never really questioned whether I was doing something stupid.

Why?
Because it was normal—normal for me and normal because the people around me did the same.

You know the famous saying, right?

"You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with."

I came to discover that this is true in every sense of the phrase. But it’s not just about the five people you hang out with; it’s also about the media you consume and the habits you build.

I think everyone knows this guy called Andrew Tate and the Red Pill community by now. This guy and his community are THE most toxic groups out there. Spend too much time consuming their stuff, and you’ll slowly adopt their way of thinking. You’ll start believing everything they say and assume it’s just a fact.

Whether it’s social media, your real-life friends, or other vices, these influences will slowly strip away your sense of self.

Maybe you watch too much TV and think it’s normal to watch 2-3 hours every day.
Maybe you spend too much time soaking up negativity online.
Maybe you indulge in stupid activities with your friends.

Question it. Go on a fast.

I’ve done the same thing.

I fasted my friends for a while.
I fasted social media for a while.
I fasted on junk food for a while.
I fasted on alcohol and other vices for a while.

The insights you gain from removing certain things from your life—even just for a while—can reveal things you never knew or had long forgotten because life just got in the way.

So what’s your thing? What do you need to fast from for a while?
Think about it. Really question your day and whether it has any meaning.

If not, try going on a fast. Fast it for a while.

And let me know what you’re going to fast from—I’m always curious to hear your story.

That’s it for today. Enjoy the rest of your week, and let’s get it!

Kind Regards,
Coach Loc
