Being Overweight Causes Insecurities
Being Fit Makes You Confident
No sh*t, Loc.
Of course being overweight causes insecurities. Great f*cking email, man.
Yeah, I know, haha. But it still surprises me how many people think there’s no connection at all.
Plus, I’ve got a unique take on why this happens.
You don’t need to be an award-winning scientist to figure out that being overweight causes insecurities.
Social media shows you the best-looking, most shredded people in the world, and it’s only natural to compare yourself and feel like sh*t.
But then mainstream media swoops in, preaching about how you should “accept your body the way it is.”
And that’s why so many people fail to connect the dots between being overweight and feeling insecure.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not out here telling you to beat yourself up if you’re overweight. But I’m also not about to encourage you to fool yourself into feeling confident when you clearly don’t feel secure in your own body.
Can you be confident while being overweight?
Sure, it’s possible. But even then, I still think a lot of people are lying to themselves.
And let’s be honest—it’s easier than ever to fool yourself these days.
Why do people feel insecure?
It’s not just about seeing ridiculously good-looking people on Instagram. There’s something deeper at play.
It’s the inability to control yourself.
Let’s keep it real: people who are overweight are usually habitually indulging in “delicious” food. Their bodies reflect this lack of control—an overflow of calories paired with an inability to say no.
And that lack of control is obvious to the world.
Confidence, on the other hand, comes from control.
In the Netherlands, confidence is called “zelfvertrouwen,” which translates to “self-belief.” Believing in yourself—knowing you’re capable of doing something.
It takes serious belief in yourself to make healthy choices every day, especially with how accessible crap food is nowadays.
It takes self-belief to hit the gym regularly when Netflix is screaming your name from the couch.
Confidence is born from taking action and taking control of your life.
When you take control of your life, your body reflects that.
Your body, in a way, is a reflection of your confidence and self-control.
Went a little deep there—sorry about that!
But I hope you found this email valuable anyway.
I’m not here to make you feel bad—I’m here to give you a push in the right direction.
Of course, there’s another side of this: people showing off how good they look and begging for validation online.
But that’s a topic for another email—maybe the next one.
That’s it for today!
Hope you enjoyed your weekend—let’s crush next week.
Kind regards and much love,
Coach Loc
